1947

Back In Time Blur: Unseen Stories, Fictional Realities- In 1947 Detroit, jazz and swing filled the air, and a west side high school gym became a haven for young dreams. Chicago "CJ" Rice, a senior and basketball team captain, stood out with his talent and determination, embodying the resilience of the African American community. As CJ led his team to victory, he faced the uncertainty of life beyond high school, where many achievements of young Black men like him went unnoticed.

This project highlights untold stories of African American creatives, athletes, and dreamers. CJ’s journey is one of many legacies explored in a photo series blending history and imagination. Using natural light and thoughtful composition, I honor their struggles and brilliance, reminding us that history includes both what we remember and what remains to be discovered.
